RACE INFO/大会情報
UEDA VERTICAL RACE
The UEDA VERTICAL RACE is a skyrunning (mountain climbing race) held every year on May 3rd and 4th in Ueda City, Nagano Prefecture. This event started in 2014. However, Mt. Taro has a history of mountain climbing races held about 100 years ago, and a mountain climbing relay held about 50 years ago.
The course starts at Oboshi Shrine and climbs up to the summit of Mt. Taro (1,164m above sea level), which is loved by Ueda citizens. On the first day, the VERTICAL race finishes at the summit, and on the second day, the SKY race, which is a mountain race that goes up and down, is held. Many skyrunners from Japan and abroad participate.
This is a competition open to many people, from beginners to athletes. Elementary school students can participate in the Vertical. The Sky is one of the steepest and most technical courses in the world, and is a world series race. The venue is in Ueda city, where transportation and accommodation are convenient, so you can enjoy cheering and sightseeing at the competition.
